Reseed bare patches in the lawn
Bare and thin spots show up after summer, and spreading seed and compost by hand leaves clumps in some places and nothing in others. A walk-behind broadcast spreader puts seed or fertilizer down at a setting you choose, and a rolling compost spreader lays a thin top layer of compost or peat moss over the seed.
Why these pieces
Seeding and top-dressing are the two passes a patch needs, and each spreader handles one of them more evenly than a hand or a shovel.
